Full Job Description

Working alongside our Museum and Visitor Services Officers you will engage with members of the public and deliver exceptional customer service, whilst monitoring the objects. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key part of the delivery of this exciting touring exhibition.

What's involved?

· As an exhibition guide volunteer, you will be based in the exhibition gallery itself.

· Respond to enquiries from visitors and members of the public relating to the exhibition.

· Be the public face of the exhibition and the museum, providing a warm and friendly welcome to all our visitors in line with our customer charter and Happy Museums programme.

· Proactively approach and engage visitors in the museum and with the exhibition.

· Promote the Portsmouth Museums to our visitors.

· Follow health and safety procedures, helping to ensuring you and our visitors are safe.

· You may be asked to assist with other duties, such as cleaning and conservation related tasks.

· Support new initiatives that further enhance the visitor experience at the museum and in other galleries.

This role will suit people who have a friendly and enthusiastic manner, an interest in history and art, and enjoy engaging with visitors. Previous experience in public-facing positions or knowledge would be advantageous but is not necessary as you will be supported by the Museum Officers and staff throughout your time with us.

Please be aware that this role can be physically demanding, and you may be on your feet for around two to three hours at a time.

Time commitment: Either a morning or afternoon shift (4hrs) - once a week
