Full Job Description

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Exhibits and Disclosure (E&D) function across the Specialist Crime Command. This includes the Major Crime Team, Serious and Organised Crime Unit, and Economic Crime Unit covering both Surrey and Sussex. You will co-ordinate and manage the Team Leaders, E&D Officers & Exhibit's Officers by prioritising, allocating and maintaining an overview of their workloads. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements surrounding disclosure and ensuring the integrity of exhibits within a major investigation and that all qualitative and quantitative performance targets are met and manage risk taking remedial action where necessary. You will also professionally advise the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) on all matters of disclosure. This role is across Sussex and Surrey Police and the post holder will either be based at Lewes in Sussex or Woking in Surrey but travel across both forces will be expected. The salary grade range for this post is different depending on which force you are employed by. The range is as follows

  • To be educated at A level standard or have the relevant operational equivalent in a law enforcement or investigative background.
  • Leadership and managerial skills in order to develop and manage a strong performing team.
  • Completed or have the ability to successfully complete HOLMES 2 training suitable for Exhibits and Disclosure Officers within a year of being appointed into the role.
  • Possess or have the ability to successfully obtain ILEX qualification/accreditation within a year of being appointed into the role.
  • Substantial, proven and well evidenced recent experience of Exhibits and Disclosure Management in Criminal Investigations in line with the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act and CPS guidance (DG6).
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, both oral and written.
  • The ability to work to CPS/Court deadlines whilst also carrying a heavy workload and being able to demonstrate flexibility with constantly changing priorities.
  • The post holder will be subject to and must maintain Force vetting procedures and must evidence high standards of honesty and integrity.

    The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
