Full Job Description

Cambridge University Botanic Garden is searching for an enthusiastic and dynamic Expedition Botanist to lead our plant-collecting expeditions around the world. This is a unique role that combines international travel, conservation, research, and teaching in a vibrant, supportive team.

As our Expedition Botanist, you will organise and lead up to four expeditions each year, joining our partners on additional expeditions, contribute to in-situ and ex-situ conservation, support species discovery and expand our botanical collections. You will also play an integral role in post-expedition processing including herbarium specimen preparation, seed banking and digitization. You will apply your taxonomic expertise to enhance and curate our living collections, ensure their scientific accuracy and assist with both university-level teaching and public engagement.

We are seeking someone truly exceptional¿energetic, knowledgeable, and ready to contribute to our mission to expand our botanical collections and reach. If you have a love of botany and horticulture, thrive in adventurous environments, and enjoy teamwork, we want to hear from you. Join us in making a difference¿one expedition at a time!
