Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Grade 9 Community Occupational Therapist to join our innovative and friendly team of Occupational Therapists within an integrated community team at Cheshire East. The therapy service is innovative and works closely with our health service colleagues with whom we have developed strong partnerships to improve client outcomes for the residents of Cheshire East. Additionally, this role will also provide a wide range of learning and training opportunities and joint working across traditional boundaries. You will provide assessments and interventions for adults and paediatric clients who present with physical, learning, or mental health needs that impact on their ability to manage within their home environment. You will be supported to identify if there is any potential for improvement through joint working with other community therapists, the use of equipment and/or adaptations and Assistive Technology devices. You will identify the long-term needs of service users who require adaptations to their home environment and to consider their functional needs and the potential impact of the built environment and will develop solutions that will meet the client's needs and maintain their independence and safety.

Cheshire East Council (CEC) are looking for experienced Occupational Therapists (OT) with knowledge and understanding of the Care Act, Disabled Facilities Grants, adaptations and Safe Handling.,

  • Enthusiastic and well-rounded HCPC registered Occupational Therapists with knowledge of health and social care.
  • The candidate should be self-motivated with excellent communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and within the occupational therapy team and wider MDT. Organisational skills and time management is key to efficiently managing caseloads.
  • The candidate should be able to provide a strengths-based approach to care and have an understanding of a variety of conditions and their potential impact on individuals.
  • It will be essential for the post holder to work autonomously within the Council's policies and professional practice, in addition to maintaining accurate and comprehensive client documentation.
  • The post holder will be based in the East of the council (Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Poynton and Knutsford) but there may be a necessity to travel to other bases in the Crewe and Congleton area. Cheshire East Council operates a 'flexible and mobile' working policy.
