Experienced Social Worker - Disabled Children's Team East

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an Experienced Social Worker to support disabled children and their families in the East Disabled Children's Team. This post will be based in Margate or Whitstable but there is an expectation to work across the whole area covered by the team.

As an experienced social worker, you will bring your expertise and passion to our East Disabled Children's Team. You will play a crucial role in assessing needs, developing and implementing care plans, and delivering effective interventions. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative environment where your experience and insights will drive meaningful change.

We are seeking a flexible, highly motivated person to carry a caseload comprising of children in need, children in care, child protection cases.

The team follows a care pathway approach, and we carry our children through from the first assessment, child in need, child protection, all court work, child in care, adoption and permanency.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct in-depth assessments of children with disabilities and their families.

- Develop, implement, and review personalized care plans that address individual needs and circumstances.

- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including healthcare providers, educators, and community organizations.

- Provide direct support, advocacy, and guidance for children and families.

- Maintain detailed and accurate case records in compliance with legal and organizational standards.

- Offer mentorship and support to newly qualified social workers and other team members.

- Engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and policy changes.

Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.

- Passion for working with disabled children and a commitment to improving their outcomes.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

- Willingness to travel within the Canterbury, coastal, and Thanet areas.

A high standard of written English is an important requirement as all team members must be able to produce a good standard of report writing and maintain accurate, comprehensive written records. Excellent organisational skills, communication and IT skills are also essential.

You will need to demonstrate an ability to engage with children, young people, their families and carers coupled with the integrity to work within a confidential, professional environment. We will be looking for someone with an understanding of the rewards and challenges of caring for a disabled child. In return you will be provided with support and opportunities to develop your own knowledge and skills further with regular supervision.

This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence - The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling Kent wide and beyond. You should note that public transport is rarely a viable option as your role will involve you working with families in very rural areas, with limited public transport.
