Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Scheduling Coordinator to join the team who commission and schedule programmes across music radio, including Radio 1, 1Xtra and the new BBC Sounds music streams Radio 1 Dance, Radio 1 Anthems and Radio 3 Unwind. Working with the Schedules Manager, you will play a key role in managing our various schedules, creating and updating them as required to ensure they accurately reflect our broadcast plans and are effectively communicated to the wider world.Main Responsibilities Accurate schedules are vital to the smooth running of any radio station, with everyone from Network Heads, production staff across a wide range of suppliers, planning and operational teams, and - of course - audiences relying on them to know what is happening and when. You will work within a small team to help realise the ambitions of the commissioning teams and be a key point of contact for queries regarding our schedules. You will pull together information from a variety of sources to ensure accurate schedules are created in Proteus - the radio scheduling system; and help ensure our operations team have the correct programmes available ahead of transmission. You will also help ensure any gaps in the schedule are identified and filled, take on a variety of key administrative tasks and work closely with production teams to ensure the way on-demand programmes appear in BBC Sounds helps maximise audience engagement and demand.
- A demonstrable passion for music radio and a broad knowledge of our services, DJs and programmes.
- Experience of updating online systems and databases with first class IT skills a must.
- Evidence of strong time-management skills honed in a scheduling environment or similar, with the ability to work across multiple projects and meet key deadlines.
- Evidence of strong communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- A proven eye for detail and the ability to quickly take-in and process a constant supply of information from commissioning and programming teams.
- This is a hybrid role so the ability to use your own initiative and judgement to escalate matters where necessary is essential.
The BBC is committed to redeploying employees seeking suitable alternative employment within the BBC for different reasons and they will be given priority consideration ahead of other applicants. Priority consideration means for those employees seeking redeployment their application will be considered alongside anyone else at risk of redundancy, prior to any individuals being considered who are not at risk. We don't focus simply on what we do - we also care how we do it. Our values and the way we behave are important to us. Please make sure you've read about our values and behaviours here. Diversity matters at the BBC. We have a working environment where we value and respect every individual's unique contribution, enabling all of our employees to thrive and achieve their full potential. We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of the BBC - whether that's to contribute to our programming or our wide range of non-production roles. The more diverse our workforce, the better able we are to respond to and reflect our audiences in all their diversity. We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief. We will consider flexible working requests for all roles, unless operational requirements prevent otherwise.
