Full Job Description

Applications are invited from candidates for a 12-month Clinical Fellow post in Palliative Medicine, to commence in August 2025. The post is ideally suited to an individual who has satisfactorily completed Foundation Year 1 & 2 training and is considering a career in Palliative Medicine; and who wishes to gain experience in Specialist Palliative Care, including research, service improvement or teaching before commencing Core Specialty Training., The Clinical Fellow will work primarily on the 12-bedded hospice in-patient unit where they will clerk in new patients, undertake independent and senior-led ward rounds and be a key part of the day to day running of the ward. Time on the in-patient unit is invaluable: it gives opportunities to learn about advanced symptom control and focus on communication skills with observation and supervised consultations.

The Fellow will contribute to the John Eastwood Hospice first on-call rota with the support of consultant colleagues. The rota is 1:6.5 and is non-residential. Part of being on call is to provide advisory telephone support to Bassetlaw Hospice inpatient unit, and the community and hospital services in mid-Nottinghamshire.
