Full Job Description

Within our business, we have our cladding and facade department where we work closely with our clients to understand and manage cladding combustibility risk, defects and remedial issues in addition to supporting clients throughout their facade remedial projects. We are currently working with a range of clients from social housing providers, landlords, and management companies. As a Facade Fire Safety Consultant, you will be responsible for working with a diverse range of clients, providing fire specialist consulting with a specific focus on external facades and fire protection within new and existing buildings. This involves:

  • Managing our cladding consultancy projects with the ongoing contracts we have in place
  • Reviewing and critiquing plans for new and existing buildings in relation to external fabric design, construction, and alterations.
  • Acting as a key contact between contractors and the client
  • Writing executive summary reports from completed external wall assessments
  • Reviewing external wall assessments
  • Identifying and assessing the suitability of such facade arrangements, cladding systems and fabric construction arrangements, in accordance with the advice notes and guidance issued by the MHCLG; and
  • Providing the provision of further guidance in respect of any additional fire safety matters including fire risk assessments, inspections, fire strategies.
  • Undertaking fire strategies
  • Validating fire strategy reports and risk assessments
  • Requirements for the role:
  • To be successful in this role, you will be experienced in surveying properties (high-rise residential and commercial) assessing compliance with approved guidance and statutory requirements and will bring a depth of experience working on complex buildings focusing on fire safety and life safety fabric and facades.
  • Quality is our top priority, so in addition to being experienced, you ll be an expert in understanding and applying MHCLG guidelines regarding external facades along with the Building Regulations; and will hold membership to either the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Institution of Fire Engineers, or the Chartered Associate of Building Engineers.

  • This role would suit a Senior Building Surveyor or Chartered Building Surveyor as well as a Chartered Engineer who has excellent report writing experience with a strong background in fire safety and an interest within the facades sector. Our Ideal candidate has: - Very Strong technical knowledge on external wall systems and with experience in undertaking and reviewing external wall assessments - Membership of MRICS or MCIOB or CEng - Membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers - A minimum of 4 years technical delivery experience gained within a construction or engineering consultancy - Good Technical writing, client facing and strong communication skills - Strong IT Skills - Organised, diligent and commercial astute - A team player with a can-do attitude, This role will be office based for a minimum of 3-4 days per week and there will be a requirement to travel, so it s important you have the flexibility and willingness to travel as required.
