Full Job Description

Bescience STEM is hosting eight one-day chemistry hackathons in Leicester schools from October 2024 to January 2025. Students will be mentored by industry professionals and evaluated by corporate executives, aiming to inspire a love for STEM and encourage future STEM careers through creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. To ensure the success of this event, we are seeking a facilitator with a science or chemistry background to support multiple groups of students to understand, brainstorm and resolve chemistry-based problems alongside mentorship from industry volunteers.,

  • Oversee the hackathon activities.
  • Coordinate with event staff and mentors.
  • Participant Engagement
  • Encourage and motivate students throughout the day.
  • Provide guidance and support to teams working on Chemistry problem statements.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Logistics Coordination:
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down event materials.
  • Handle any on-the-day issues or emergencies.
  • Communication
  • Act as the main point of contact for students and mentors during the event.
  • Deliver clear instructions and updates to participants.

    Strategic mentoring / coaching
  • Volunteer management, Seeking a facilitator with a science background to support multiple groups of students to understand, brainstorm and resolve chemistry-based problems alongside mentorship from industry volunteers at our Hackathons in Leicester schools., 1. Degree in Chemistry, Science Communication, or a related field.
  • 2. Experience in educational events, workshops, or hackathons. 3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 4. Ability to manage and engage with large groups of young people. 5. Enthusiasm for promoting STEM education and inspiring students.
