Full Job Description

The role will involve both working under the supervision of the Facilities Team Leaders, but also working independently during shifts, and exercising initiative.
Typical Day of Working in the role of a Porter:
Responsible for the movement of patients by bed/trolley/wheelchair between Wards and Departments
Collection and Delivery of laundry, pharmacy boxes, bedding and furniture throughout the hospital
Exchange of medical gas cylinders
Collection and Delivery of specimens, blood bags and medical records
Cleaning of wheelchairs and trolleys after every use.
Potentially provide driver cover for vehicles including vans and the shuttle bus, and hospital tugs., Maintain good working relationships with all staff
Ensure that all working procedures and practices are complied with at all times, including Trust and departmental policies
Handling of items above 15kg when performing Portering Duties
Maintain a clean, tidy and hygienic appearance, ensuring the full uniform is worn at all times, and other personal protective clothing when necessary
Overall providing excellent standards of service in a variety of environments to one exceptional standard making up a high quality, efficient and customer orientated facilities service
NB: As part of this varied role you may be asked to work in any of our operational services, including Portering, Domestics, Deep Cleaning and Infection control, Catering, Sterile Services, etc. The location of which will also vary.

Full training will be provided for the specific role, but we are looking for previous experience of working with the general public.

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be paid for by North Tees and Hartlepool Solutions, however, should you fail to satisfactorily complete the probationary period, you will be charged for the DBS check as a deduction from your final salary., We are seeking two Porters, one full time, and one 22.5 hours to join our team, working at our North Tees hospital site.
