General Overview

MITIE provide a full maintenance service to Perkins Engines including Fabric, Cleaning, General Maintenance, Mechanical and Electrical and Statutory Compliance.

The Facilites Engineer's role is vital to ensure the smooth running of the facility. This means we must maintain and repair, when broken, anything which may disrupt the facility which means experience in Plumbing, Electrical, Painting, and general maintenance and Handywork is desired.

To operate, maintain and manage efficiently with the minimum supervision new and existing building services to specified standards as determined by the company.

Hours:

07:30 - 16:00 Monday to Friday

Overtime may be available and the successful candidate may need to participate as required in duty standby/call-out rosters and emergency response teams as required.

Main duties

· To maintain optimum performance and standards of clients premises professionally and effectively in line with company standards.

· Ensure correct health and safety practices are applied appropriately and in accordance with training given.

· To undertake reactive and planned maintenance tasks, as well as monitoring of Contractors when dealing with their assigned tasks and providing escort duties when and where required.

· Ensuring plant/equipment is maintained in accordance with the Planned Preventative Maintenance System.

· To undertake minor electrical works/repairs such as lamp replacement and emergency light testing.

· Complete portable appliance testing where required.

· To monitor and maintain evaporative cooling systems, domestic water systems, site water discharge systems in accordance with the relevant regulations/guidance.

· Provide a 1st look to any Air Conditioning / Heating fault to determine if the issue requires an outside contractor to complete any required repair.

· Provide a 1st look to any vehicle / pedestrian door faults to determine if the issue requires an outside contractor to complete any required repair.

· Completing temporary / permanent floor repairs where needed.

· Address any acute internal issues such as blocked drains, toilets etc.

· Tend to any site emergency situation in a safe and timely manner such as fire alarm activations and spillages.

· Provide routine housekeeping duties and/or janitorial tasks to support the effective operations of the facility, e.g. painting, washing low level windows along with low level maintenance such as fixing a door handle, tap replacement, Maintenance and replacement where necessary of toilet roll dispensers, soap dispensers, towel dispensers, etc.

· Preparing rooms for a range of uses, including setting out, removal and storage of furniture and equipment. All of this in accordance with health and safety and manual handling procedures as per training provided.

· Carry out regular testing and checks on the fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems ensuring that they are working satisfactorily, reporting any faults to the Facilities Manager.

· Undertake on-call duties, responding to emergency call-outs in accordance with established procedures, including attending at the location, contacting the appropriate authorities, inspecting for damage and theft, effecting temporary repairs and, where necessary, liaising with contractors/emergency services on site.

· Ensure that all PPE provided by MITIE is used properly and accordance with training received.

· Carry out activites normally performed by other on site engineers where possible and competent to cover holiday or sick leave.

· Any other reasonable duties as requested by your manager.
