Facilities Head of Catering

Catering 80% The post holder will be required to work closely with Nursing Teams, Facilities Team and Estates teams together with other support service departments within the Trust. The post holder will also be responsible for monitoring quality standards, compliance, working in line with Trust policies, procedures and National guidance and take and/or facilitate appropriate action.

Prepare, cook, and regenerate food for patients and staff, using the Cook Freeze method. They will complete internal monitoring of Food Hygiene Regulations, temperature and quality control points in line with Hazard Analysis Critical Control points (HACCP).

Work as an integral member of the Hospital team(s), with responsibility for the coordination of all facilities contained within the catering environment, ensuring the correct provision of food meets the patients needs and complies with National Standards and Trust Policies.

Ensure a safe, effective and compliant catering service is delivered, exercising effective leadership in managing the performance and directing catering teams and that minor maintenance of the environment and equipment is undertaken, and an effective Catering Service is offered to patients.

Office work 20% To support the Facilities Team leader to complete the annual Facilities Service Assistants appraisals and setting and agreeing work plans and objectives, to monitor and review in conjunction with the Facilities Team Leader.

Main duties of the job

Prepare staff rotas, ensuring that they are efficient and adequate cover is provided.

Address straightforward problems in their day-to-day work, reporting concerns and changes to their supervisor in a timely manner.

Support the Facilities Team Leader to maintain effective control of annual leave, ensuring adequate cover is provided at all times.

To undertake hands on catering duties in accordance with Trust policies and procedures throughout the hospital premises, this will include wards, staff rooms, meeting rooms and kitchens.

To ensure relevant monitoring / record sheets are completed and adequate catering materials and equipment are available at all times, in line with Trust policies and procedures.

To liaise with the Ward Team around any changes to patients catering requirements and taking into account meal requirements for new admitted or discharged patients are met.

To assist with the cleanliness of the Ward Pantry including checking of stock levels and rotation of stock also ensuring all monitoring forms are fully completed.

To oversee the labelling and storage of refrigerated food, ensuring temperature of the refrigerator is recorded twice each day, in line with Trust Policy.

To ensure that all equipment is stored in a safe manner and kept in a clean condition and report any defects or failures to Estates team keeping the Facilities Team Leader informed of any actions.
