Full Job Description
We are looking for a Facilities & Maintenance Assistant to join us as a Halls Caretaker on a full-time, permanent basis. As a Halls Caretaker, you will be responsible for the general day to day running of the building including set ups and take downs, cleaning, health and safety checks, opening and closing. The Opportunity To work as part of a team of Facilities & Maintenance Assistants to provide efficient and effective caretaking support to the Council's community halls. Ensuring the security and general appearance of the facilities are maintained to a high standard and the facilities are safe for public use. Undertaking general maintenance and repair of the facilities and monitoring the completion of contracted works. To ensure the provision of great customer care. Meeting and greeting hirers and undertaking hall viewings to generate new bookings. Accountabilities
- To work on a rota basis including evening and weekend working and call out subject to the needs of the service.
- To receive and respond effectively to onsite customer enquiries and other information requests regarding the community halls and to keep the administration staff promptly and fully aware of all enquiries received which require follow up. Undertaking halls viewings and proactively interacting with potential hirers and customers to gain new bookings or the halls.
- To retain custody of keys to the Council facilities. To open and close facilities and secure the premises when the hall is not in use.
- To ensure the facilities are kept clean and ready for new hirers, cleaning after functions with deep cleans as necessary, ensuring that the relevant cleaning equipment is kept well maintained and stock of cleaning materials and consumables are replenished.
- To set up and take down tables, chairs and equipment as required and to ensure that equipment is kept in good working order.
- To carry out minor repairs or maintenance works such as, but not limited to:
- Painting and decoration
- Joinery - first line maintenance of fixtures and fittings, e.g. maintenance of door handles, tightening of window hinges, minor repairs as a temporary measure after break-ins etc
- Plumbing - un-blocking sinks, traps and waste pipes. Adjustment and replacement of tap washers, repair of minor leaks.
- Internal glazing - remedial action after break-ins, e.g. boarding up broken windows
- To be familiar with COSHH and ensure safe use of cleaning materials, paints or any other hazardous materials and to adhere to safe systems of work and comply with health and safety requirements.
- Set and take down of events such as tables and chairs
- Emptying rubbish bins
- Mopping/sweeping after events
- Key holder
Experience of caretaking or premises management building cleaning or building management - Experience of dealing with members of the public and customer care
- Experience of using cleaning equipment
- Experience in general maintenance
- Full UK Driving Licence with access to own vehicle (paid mileage)
