Abbot's Lea School is a large and highly successful special school educating over 270 students aged 3-19, who, due to their Autism and associated learning differences, require significant specialist support to succeed academically and achieve their full potential. The school's mission statement is to be the International Centre of Excellence for Autism. We ensure outstanding outcomes for all of our students through our unique Philosophy of Education - The ASD Model © which underpins our promotion of: A - academic progress S - specialist support D - development of life skills We work therapeutically and inclusively with students with most complex needs, including social, emotional and mental health problems. We are looking for a Facilities Manager who understands the importance of this special educational needs context for the operation of the function of the role., We are recruiting for a Facilities Manager who can lead our facilities function and help us to achieve the schools ambition to be the best specialist school in the world. We have a site containing three permanent buildings of various ages, plus temporary accommodation set in extensive grounds which we have to maintain and are looking to maximise the use of. The successful applicant must be a strong leader and manager of both of the systems, teams and culture. You will have exceptional communication skills with all stakeholders from students to contractors to local residents. You will line manage the catering, ICT, cleaning (both employees and contracted services) and caretaking team, including management and mentoring of an apprentices, trainees and interns, as required. As well as the day to day maintenance of the school you will plan long and short term works for the school, including budgeting and procurement plans. You will be responsible for the health and safety of the school site, including fire safety and all risk assessments and associated statutory policies. You will also manage the arrival and departure of daily school transport. Previous school experience is not required.
