Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Facilities Manager - Waste, within Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, Estates & Facilities Division., The Facilities Manager - Waste is responsible for delivering a high quality, safe, efficient and effective Waste provision to patients, staff and visitors across the organisation.

To manage the Waste Supervisor and the Waste Department on a day to day basis ensuring all aspects of the service provision are complaint with statutory, best practice and local requirements

The post holder is a key member of the Facilities Management Team and, at the discretion of the Senior Facilities Manager will be required to undertake projects and weekend and out of hours work together with other duties in addition to key responsibilities of the role.

The ideal candidate must be flexible and willing to manage the provision of the Waste service. You must have great organisational and motivational skills, be a team player and leader and have demonstrable experience of managing Portering and Waste function in the NHS to undertake the role. Experience of working within the parameters of HTM 07-01 is essential.You will be responsible for the coordination and management of a team of Waste staff in delivering an effective, efficient, safe, patient focused and resourceful service within the Hospital.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 286,700, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children's Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre. This is scheduled for completion this year.
