Full Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newham/East London to assist with the appointment of a Facilities Operative, for an immediate start.,

  • Building Maintenance:
  • + Conduct routine inspections of the library building and grounds. + Identify and report maintenance issues to relevant personnel. + Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as fixing leaks, changing light bulbs, and clearing blockages.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation:
  • + Maintain a clean and hygienic environment throughout the library. + Clean and sanitize public areas, restrooms, and staff areas. + Empty trash and recycling bins regularly. + Clean and maintain library furniture and equipment.
  • Security:
  • + Monitor security systems and report any irregularities. + Conduct regular security patrols of the building and grounds. + Ensure the building is secure at the end of each day.
  • Customer Service:
  • + Provide excellent customer service to library patrons. + Assist patrons with inquiries and direct them to appropriate resources. + Resolve minor customer issues and complaints.
  • Administrative Tasks:
  • + Maintain accurate records of maintenance and cleaning tasks. + Assist with inventory control and stock management. + Follow established procedures and guidelines. Please note:
  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This position requires an enhanced DBS check

    Please note that the following is essential for the role:
  • Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance.
  • Experience in handyman tasks.
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends.
