Full Job Description

As a Factory Manager you will have site responsibility for our Nestlé Coffee factory in Tutbury and be accountable for a team of skilled employees. Your role is to execute the business strategy whilst supporting and driving an innovative leadership team, supporting them delivering their areas and continuously improving cost efficiencies, sustainability and delivering to our consumers., The Factory Manager will have responsibility over operational functions at our Nestle Coffee site in Tutbury. Areas of responsibility include Manufacturing, Engineering, Safety, Quality, Finance and HR.

Key Duties Include:

  • Lead the factory safety culture and champion a safe working environment (zero injuries and illness).


  • Taking ownership of the site's quality culture, focusing on delighting consumers and delivering zero defects


  • Ensure adherence to all company values, policies and standards as well as local laws and regulations. Ensure compliance to health, food safety and regulatory requirements of all products manufactured


  • Support Manufacturing Excellence implementation to achieve long term, strategic objectives. Demonstrate the capability to mobilise teams in the factory to embrace sustainable change and make the factory a cost advantage for the category.


  • Outline a key focus on environmental sustainability


  • Focus on the development of the factory management team and staff by promoting a coaching culture to engage and empower people, support performance management, career development and succession planning. Ensure that this is reflected by other managers within the factory


  • Encourage a constructive dialogue with all relevant stakeholders (local teams, unions, local communities and authorities, Nestlé Functions inside /outside the factory). Support locally the Market related initiatives to create shared values

You will have a sharp focus on delivering the results that are required in a competitive business, through the site teams. It is important that you demonstrate an ability to engage, coach and encourage teams to understand the continued need to be cost oriented without compromising on the fundamentals., Experience of working at a strategic level and in senior leadership within manufacturing.


  • Experience of managing managers and demonstrating capability to oversee a large group of cross functional teams. A focus on developing people to be the best that they can be.


  • Preferably experience in FMCG


  • A proven track record in delivering results and leading others to achieve challenging objectives


  • Experience of developing a culture of openness. It is important that you have excellent interpersonal skills and an honest approach to develop a level of trust with stakeholders


  • Experience in leading change in a factory environment and working collaboratively with key stakeholders (Unions, local authorities.)


  • Proven background in delivering World Class Manufacturing and working in a continuous improvement environment (Lean, TPM etc.)


  • Experience of working in a matrix structure would be beneficial
