Full Job Description

The Faculty of Science invites internal applications for the position of Faculty Operations Director.

This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the University's senior professional services leadership team, helping bring together the interests of the faculty and the institution as a whole. You will bring effective leadership, coordination and delivery of professional services in alignment with wider University colleagues and strategies. You will support the Faculty in developing strategic plans, delivering positive change, supporting organisational programs, and managing day to day operations, finance, HR and marketing at the faculty level. This role works closely with the senior partners and is critical to enabling a joined up, consistent and coordinated delivery of central and local Professional Services.

You will work with the Faculty Pro-Vice Chancellor and the leadership team to drive, develop and implement faculty based strategy in the context of the University strategy. You will deliver change and be responsible for leading the team of administrative, professional and managerial (APM) and technical services (TS) colleagues whilst supporting academic and research colleagues. The role provides an opportunity to make a real impact at our University to help us continue to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of Higher Education.

The post is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
