This vital role isfocused on supporting pupils to ensure they have full access toeducational opportunities and overcome barriers to learning andparticipation. The Family Liaison Support Officer will work closely withfamilies, parents, carers, and pupils to promote positive educationaloutcomes, enhance school attendance, and support overall wellbeing.,
- Act as a liaison between school, families, and external agencies to support the needs of pupils and their families.
- Monitor pupil attendance, working closely with the Senior Attendance Officer to address attendance issues and encourage punctuality.
- Assist families in overcoming barriers to learning, such as issues around school attendance or engagement, by offering tailored support.
- Provide advice, information, and support to parents and carers on a range of school-related matters, promoting engagement with the school.
- Attend meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of child and family support plans.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils and their families, providing practical help and guidance where needed.

If you are passionate aboutsupporting pupils and families, and you want to help tackleunderachievement by removing barriers to learning, we would love tohear from you., JOB PURPOSE: The role of the Family Liaison Officer is to assist in tackling underachievement by working in partnership with families, parents, carers and pupils in a school context. The Family Liaison officer aims to enable pupils, particularly the most disadvantaged, to have full access to educational opportunities and to overcome barriers to learning and participation. This includes monitoring attendance and working closely with education Welfare to support parents and carers with getting their child to school on time every day. It can also involve contacting professionals if there are concerns and attending meetings based on a plan to support the child and family.,
- To work with the child, their family and the pastoral team to identify and determine the reasons for absence
- To implement strategies to address absences and work in a variety of ways to support, motivate and challenge pupils to raise levels of attendance
- To conduct home visits
- To work with the year teams to implement attendance and wellbeing interventions. This includes the data tracking of the interventions
- To ensure that profiles and progress reports are written on all pupils, by published deadlines, and that these conform to School Policy
- To liaise with the appropriate colleagues to ensure that the educational needs of all pupils are met
- Make home visits to talk to parents about issues and to offer advice about strategies to deal with problems - complete the EHA form with parents
- Liaise with relevant professionals and individuals, e.g. education welfare officer, educational psychologists, the police and social services
- Undertake a range of administrative duties relevant to the post, which includes maintaining accurate electronical records, preparing written reports and evaluations, sending letters to parents and completing the EHA forms online
- Refer cases: refer cases for enforcement actions and completing recommended actions
- Support families: provide support and information to families in a sensitive and compassionate manner
- Promote positive attendance: work with school Leadership to develop attendance policies, organize awareness campaigns and reward students for good attendance
- Monitor attendance: look for patterns and trends in attendance data to plan and implement targeted support
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times

- To contribute with effective liaison with institutions outside the School
- To liaise with the nominated Senior Leadership Team/Line Manager/ HOY/HOF/SENCO/ Safeguarding Officer/Attendance Officer/ Pastoral team/external agencies/advisors as required
- To develop positive relationships and maintain contact with families and carers
- To maintain regular liaison with relevant pastoral and teaching staff in order to discuss, monitor and review progress of identified pupils on Pastoral Support Programmes and following reintegration from the Internal Exclusion Unit. Resources
- Ensure that relevant resources are kept up to date, catalogued and sorted in an organised way, and accessible to staff

- Proven experience in a similar role or working with families in a supportive capacity, ideally within an educational context.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with pupils, families, and external professionals.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- A proactive, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to supporting families in need.
