Full Job Description

We are seeking a Family Hub Support Worker to support our Children and Young People Service Team. What will be expected from me? The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the Early Help Offer children and their families, adopting a whole family, strengths-based approach to reduce risk, increase resilience and improve outcomes for children. This is an exciting time to join Wakefield as we further develop our work in the Family Hubs. You will be part of a team that opens the doors of the Hub to the community providing a welcome, support and interventions throughout the day for children, parents and whole families to help them to become stronger, offer them new skills when they are struggling and help our children become the best that they can be. You will facilitate groups such as the 'Freedom Programme' and 'Who's in Charge' with colleagues from the hub and from our partner agencies as well as groups and activities for children. What I might be doing?

  • You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of the Early Help Offer for families, adopting a whole family, strengths-based approach to reduce risk, increase resilience and improve outcomes for children.
  • You will ensure that services are delivered in compliance with relevant legislation, local and national policy, and guidance.
  • You will support and engage with individuals, parents, children, and young people with long histories of challenging and risky behaviours and who are difficult to engage or resistance of using or accepting services.
  • You will support the Family Hub Coordinator in pursuing opportunities for service development.

You need to hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent, relevant to the work area including: Children's Care Learning and Development/Certificate in Youth Work practice or Health and Social Care
  • A full driving licence is required (unless unable to drive through disability).
  • An understanding of the principles that support and promote the wellbeing of children, young people, and families.
  • Experience of working directly with children, young people and families with complex needs and risk in a relevant setting.
