Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Support Worker to join our Risk Outside the Home Team (ROTH). The ROTH team are responsible for undertaking return home interviews for those Children who have be reported as missing across North Somerset. Children who may not be known to our Children Social Care, maybe on Child Protection Plans or maybe in the Care of the Local Authority.

The team will consist of 1 Team Manager, one Missing Co-Ordinator and 2 Missing return/vulnerable to sexual and criminal exploitation workers. This group will also sit alongside the newly forming Adolescent Safety Framework which in being newly introduced to North Somerset's Front Door.

You will undertake specific pieces of work with young people in North Somerset, who may be vulnerable to exploitation, which could include sexual and criminal abuse. You will be supported by your manager to plan and implement the work you undertake which will include organising, completing and recording missing return interviews., Build strong, supportive relationships with children and families at risk of extra-familial harm.
Work closely with social workers and other agencies to plan and deliver support,
Provide home and community-based interventions to improve family well-being,
Use evidence-based methods to promote safety and positive change,
Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences and other key meetings,
Refer families to additional services and signpost to community resources,
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with our policies,
Deliver parenting programs and support for families in need,
Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, based on family needs when required.

We're looking for individuals with proven experience in supporting vulnerable children and families, a solid understanding of safeguarding practices, and a commitment to trauma-informed approaches and who possess the following skills and experience., NVQ Level 3 or 4 in a relevant field, or working towards this,
Proven experience working with vulnerable children and families,
Strong understanding of safeguarding children and child development,
Experience working with families facing complex challenges, including exploitation or abuse,
Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies,
Knowledge of trauma-informed and Signs of Safety approaches,
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills,
Flexible, adaptable, and able to work outside of normal office hours.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role., Disability Confident
