Full Job Description

As a Fault Dispatcher you will have first sight of all emergency incidents, safety reports and power cuts.

This overview of all jobs means the dispatcher is uniquely positioned as the first line of defence against a dangerous situation.

As a Fault Dispatcher you will communicate with many different departments within SSEN daily. Often this will be two-way communication, with dispatchers providing vital information for others to act on.

Roles & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Reviewing, assessing and investigating emergency reports for dangerous and life-threatening situations and ensuring that all relevant safety advice has been given.

- Efficiently resourcing jobs and providing clear and accurate information to all relevant field staff, Control Engineers and Duty Managers as required.

- Interpreting technical details from staff on site and our systems converting this into accurate customer information so that customers, especially our vulnerable customers can be kept informed and updated as part of SSEN's vision and purpose.

- Coordination of emergency unplanned work and resources in real-time to gain maximum available regulatory reward benefits, e.g. IIS (Interruptions Incentive Scheme), broad measure etc.

- Ownership of an incident to ensure that all information is up to date as well as fully maintaining safety on the network. You will be working rigorously with the field based teams & ensure a smooth transfer of ownership throughout the 24/7 period.

An emergency dispatch or a utilities background is highly desirable.

- You will be confident to engage with colleagues across the business, including more senior managers and our operational teams.

- Competency with the Microsoft Office suite of collaborative tools and strong enthusiasm to embrace future technological advances.

- The ability to collate and assess information from multiple sources to ensure the correct operational decisions are made.

- Strong customer service skills including the ability to build long standing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

- The ability to work to a tight schedule where constant re-evaluation and prioritisation is essential whilst ensuring our customers are at the centre of all outcomes.

Salary: £31,339 - £35,892 + £10,000 shift allowance + standby payments + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
