Full Job Description
The main aims of this Fellowship are to help with further development of the School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology simulation programme, with a focus on implementation as per the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Curricular requirements. They will be also required to focus on educational transformation as part of the recovery from COVID-19. Applicants need to be in a HEE London Obstetrics and Gynaecology training programme and would take on this role by secondment, reducing their in-programme time through less than full time category two. The option to undertake this role through out-of-programme can also be discussed.The successful applicant will work up to a maximum of 80% on the fellowship and must maintain a minimum of 20% in-programme time. Specifically, the fellow will be supported to develop the existing simulation platforms and other aspects of teaching / training material for all regional teaching platforms that are managed by the HEE London. Support can be given from the educational research department within HEE to submit project findings for publication.The post holder is expected to develop an 'educational portfolio' including taking advantage of the broad range of educational experiences on offer within the work of the School and through wider networking opportunities, in particular with other trainees in Fellowship posts.
SHO duties in both obstetrics and gynecology, covering antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology wards, antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics, the Day Assessment and Triage Units and the Early Pregnancy Unit. Ultrasound training is available and encouraged. Participation in theatre, rotation through the gynecology oncology team and active participation in audit are expected. There is the opportunity to participate in the specialist interest clinics in the department including Obstetric Medicine, Fetal Medicine, Rapid Access Clinic and Outpatient Hysteroscopy Clinics. You will also have an opportunity to attend some of the teaching sessions which take place on a weekly basis and the Departmental monthly post graduate forums.

They will be expected to develop an understanding of the level of knowledge required at different stages of training and then to undertake a systematic review of existing learning opportunities and identify gaps to formulate a comprehensive teaching package. Support can be given from the educational research department within HEE to submit project findings for publication. The post holder will be required to work across different professional groups including academics, consultants and leads in postgraduate education.
