Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed term fellowship post in Medical Retina based at St Pauls Eye Unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital (RLUH), which is part of the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT). The post is clinical with two sessions per week available for study, research and audit. There will be opportunities to contribute to clinical research in Medical Retina and join as a sub-investigator a number of on-going clinical trials in age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, uveitis and inherited retinal diseases. Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £23 (standard disclosure) or £43 (enhanced disclosure) will be deducted from salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment. Bank posts require upfront payment. DBS applications submitted from 2nd December will be subject to the new DBS fee of £26.50 (standard) and £54.50 (Enhanced). From April 2017, Skilled visa applicants and their adult dependant(s) will be required to provide a criminal record certificate from each country they have lived in consecutively for 12 months or more in the past ten years. Applicants requiring sponsorship may wish to determine the likelihood of obtaining sponsorship for this position by assessing themselves against the criteria on the gov.uk website - https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa.   • Four years' experience in ophthalmology as a postgraduate trainee., An interest in specialisation within the sub-specialty of medical retina or medical ophthalmology., Medical degree, Specialty training in ophthalmology

  • Evidence of participation in ophthalmic research

  • Presentations or publications in the fields of medical retina, medical ophthalmology or inflammatory eye disease., Able to work with team members of all grades within the NHS. Organisational skills., Willingness to work towards the strategic aims of the organisation. Evidence of leadership skills., Experience in formal and informal teaching and training
