Full Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Personal Assistant to provide care for a private individual with neurological needs. This is a long-term position involving a schedule of 20 hours per week for 7 weeks, followed by 36 hours in the eighth week. This pattern will repeat to accommodate the individual's medical care needs, which the PA will be expected to facilitate by transporting the individual using the employer's vehicle. The individual places a strong emphasis on their independence and actively works to expand their autonomy, viewing their condition as a challenge to be overcome. The PA will assist in supporting these goals, providing physical and emotional support while respecting the individual's desire for self-sufficiency.,

  • Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Support physical therapy, including accompanying the individual to the gym and swimming sessions, and helping with flexibility and mobility exercises.
  • Assist the individual with their daily activities and household tasks, enabling them to engage fully in the same routines as others.
  • Help the individual to undertake tasks that would be reasonably taken by a person not limited by health restrictions.
  • Accompany the individual on active and engaging outings, such as enjoying scenic hikes in local parks, participating in community sports events, attending exhilarating recreational classes, exploring interactive museums, relishing cultural festivals, or taking classic car motoring trips to nearby attractions.
  • Transport the individual to and from medical appointments using the employer's vehicle.
  • Ensure the individual's comfort and safety, promoting their independence and empowering them to maintain control over their daily life.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support as the individual tackles the challenges of their condition.

    Applicants must be at least 25 years old for the purpose of automotive insurance requirements.
  • A current, clean UK driving licence is required to drive the individual's own transportation.
  • Exhibit a strong sense of humour and maintain an ability to appreciate the lighter side of life's challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy, patience, and respect for the individual's autonomy.
  • Ability to assist with therapy exercises and manage any necessary medical equipment.
  • Proficient in riding a bicycle safely and competently.
  • Organisational skills to manage schedules and appointments.
  • First aid and CPR certification preferred, but training will be provided if necessary.

    This part-time role will involve working closely with the individual. Some flexibility in scheduling is required, based on the individual's needs and the goal to remain as independent as possible.
  • Compensation:
  • Paid holiday entitlement is included. 28 days including bank holidays.
