Female Personal Assistant (PA) required to support our daughter, who has learning difficulties and autism. The PA would be required to take our daughter out to events and activities to support her to socialise.

Person Requirements

We are looking for a friendly, chatty, bubbly person to assist our daughter with learning difficulties and autism.

Our daughter is friendly and chatty once she is comfortable with you. However, it is important that the Personal Assistant understands they will need to drive the conversation with her, by asking lots of questions and show encouragement. Our daughter likes to chat but can't always think of what to say and ask, therefore the role would suit someone who is very chatty and someone who will ask her lots of questions.

The role

To assist with taking our daughter out to various activities including: - swimming, going to park, going to gym, shopping, bowling, cinema, theatre, art and craft sessions, museums, day trips etc.

To assist with developing our daughter's weekly programme of activities, someone happy to make suggestions on activities she may like to take her too would be welcomed. Working with our daughter to create a regular 4 weekly plan of what they will do together.

Someone, creatively minded who would be comfortable planning and doing art/craft projects with her, as well as comfortable finding and taking her to interesting places/ trips, creative events and existing activities and sessions

Someone to support with basic personal care on occasion.

Degree discipline

Not essential but it may be well suited to someone from or with an interest in the health, arts and care sector. Anyone with an interest in care and supporting people with learning disabilities and autism would be great.

Requirements/Location

A car driver is preferred, but not essential.

8 hours a week, worked as 4 hour sessions 2 times a week. Ideally on a Monday and Friday but there is some flexibility if these days are not suitable.

Initially the PA will begin with 4 hours for a few weeks before increase to 8 hours per week. This is to allow the lady being supported to transition to a new PA.

Additional hours may be required to cover holidays and sickness.

Employment is on a PAYE employed basis, rate of pay is £11.44 per hour.

Or arrangements can be made to work on a self-employed basis with a slightly higher rate of pay this can be discussed with individual candidates.
