Full Job Description

  • Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.

  • Assist with household chores and general homemaking.

  • Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.

  • Support with food shopping.

  • Support to get to and from school/work/college/social activities.

  • Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.

  • Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.

  • Support with managing paperwork & correspondence.

  • Support with gardening.

  • 3hrs cooking + 1.5hrs laundry to be completed in P.A's own home ( expenses covered ).

  • Ability to push a manual attendant wheelchair and to also fold and lift it into the car is essential.


  • The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.

    You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.

    Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

    Transport Requirement:

    Car driver and car owner - must have business insurance.

    I am a female in my 40's living in the Little Eaton area. I have M.E/CFS, a neurological condition that affects my ability to complete daily tasks and participate in activities. I am looking to recruit a personal assistant with a friendly "can do" attitude, to support me to live independently. With careful pacing I can mobilise independently in my own home. A manual attendant wheelchair is required when I go out. I enjoy countryside walks, sailing, photography, and art. I have a positive outlook, appreciate kindness, humour and good coffee.
  • Total working hours average 16.5 a week, 3hrs cooking + 1.5hrs laundry to be completed in P.A's own home ( expenses covered ),occasional weekend work will be required and will be discussed further at interview., Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.

  • Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.

  • To be able to work on own initiative.

  • To be able to follow instructions accurately.

  • Be patient, supportive and caring.

  • Be empathetic.

  • Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.

  • Flexibility would be an advantage as the hours may be variable.

  • Be self-motivated with a willingness to get involved.

  • To be able to follow recipes and work from a list.

  • Have an eye for detail and a thorough approach.

  • Be sensitive to the individual's autonomy.

  • Ability to push a manual attendant wheelchair, fold and lift it in and out of the car.


  • Required Training:

    Successful candidates are required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to the role.

  • Moving and Handling. Training will be provided by the employer.

  • Experience pushing a manual attendant wheelchair and food hygiene certificate level 2 an advantage.

    Monday, 1.30pm to 4.30pm ( once a month possibly 5pm to 8pm instead)

  • Wednesday, Alternate Wednesdays 11am to 2.30pm or 12.45pm to 4.15pm

  • Thursday, 9.30am to1.45pm + 1.5hrs laundry

  • Friday, 1.30pm to 4.30pm + 3hrs cooking a.m.

  • Saturday, Occasional Saturdays may required
