Full Job Description

Reporting to Service & Support Manager the Field Service Engineer will be required to undertake the investigation and resolution of faults related to installed audiovisual equipment on-site within a varied array of venues and event spaces within the live event and corporate sectors. In addition the incumbent will be required, in collaboration with the Service & Support Administrative team, to execute preventive maintenance plans, as per Solotech's policies and procedures. The Service and Support Team has close working relationships with the other functions of the company and as a result role may also require assisting with the installation of contract rental or systems integration projects.   • On-site diagnosis and repair of professional audio visual systems.
  • Provide scheduled preventative maintenance of professional audio visual equipment on-site following Solotech's standards and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to clients and business partners in cases of emergency, either on-site or remotely using the appropriate channels of communication
  • Comply with any service level agreement (SLA), that is in place and to meet the clients requirements and expectations.
  • Execute works on-site relating to the addition to or modification of hardware/software within existing installations as required.
  • Present possible solutions to client specific related issues or requests, such as providing recommendations for any additional equipment or solutions as well as directing them to the relevant resource withing the sales & systems integration team.
  • Document all works carried out on site utilizing Solotech's systems and remote applications and provide detailed reports for presentation and issue to the client.
  • Provide support to the sales team with respect to the sale of managed service contracts to clients.
  • Participate in the hand over process from the Systems Integration team of competed audio visual installations.
  • Manage own workloads to ensure all activities are successfully completed with anything outstanding identified and reported along the correct channels.
  • Constantly monitor and update knowledge of professional audio visual equipment and systems.
  • Identify improvements to processes, performance or productivity and collaborate with the team leaders to implement them.
  • Work effectively as a member of the department to provide clear leadership and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Develop, strengthen and maintain positive relationships with other departments and individuals, external clients, manufacturers and suppliers, communicating in a clear and effective manner using all available methods.
  • Immediately report to management any anomalies, lost, stolen or damaged tools or equipment.
  • Adhere to Solotech standards and be a strong ambassador for the company's core values.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required by your manager.

    Thorough working knowledge of professional audio visual, networking and conferencing systems.
  • Ability to read and understand site and circuit schematics.
  • Excellent customer facing skills and the ability to interact with and work closely people of all professional levels.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office software as well as ability to use database.
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to meet deadlines and remain calm in a busy on-site working environment.
  • Desirable skills / experience:

  • Dante
  • Crestron/Logitech Conferencing systems
  • Zoom
  • DMX
  • BS5839/EN54 PAVA systems (advantageous)
  • Level of education:
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in the field of electronics or audio / AV service or installation.
  • PASMA, IPAF and ECS certification.
  • Work Experience:
  • A minimum 3 years practical experience of fault finding and repair to system level.
  • Or a minimum 3 years of experience as a technical engineer or supervisor within a field service environment., Right to live and work in the UK
  • Full clean driving license.
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK including overnight stays as required.
