Full Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as a Finance Analyst . As a relatively small Finance team of 13 people, the cultural fit is extremely important. The role will report directly to the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) but will also have exposure to the senior management team across all functions. This role will be critical in assisting with all financial reporting and analysis workstreams across the business and will be responsible for providing the Head of FP&A and Senior Finance Analyst with support in the strategic decision-making of the company. The role also has a management accounting element with responsibility for preparing monthly site P&Ls and driving process improvement in this area.   • Weekly reporting :
  • Preparation of suite of weekly reports including :
  • Sales reporting
  • Trading reporting
  • Labour reporting
  • Energy consumption reporting
  • Board reporting
  • Prepare materials for the monthly board meeting to provide insight into sales and EBITDA performance by brand and site
  • Analysis work :
  • Assist with ad hoc analysis across the business
  • Support with procurement savings workstream; work with third party consultants and the Heartwood Collection project team to help identify and realise food and liquor cost savings
  • Support labour efficiency workstream; review of labour reporting to ensure it is fit for purpose for key stakeholders and drives optimal rota decisions
  • Assess the effectiveness of promotional activity and feedback findings to Operations and Marketing teams
  • New Site Openings
  • Support the Property team by assessing the demographic profile of the local are for new site opportunities
  • Perform competitor analysis (proposition and pricing) in the local area for any new site openings as part of the investment review process
  • Budgets :
  • Assist the Head of FP&A with the annual budgeting process
  • Assist with preparation of budget P&L packs for sites, liaising with the Operations team as appropriate
  • Support with preparation of budget presentations for all stakeholders both internally (Exec team / Board) and externally (investors)
  • Tableau reporting and analysis :
  • Assist with the development of the Tableau reporting suite, working alongside Tableau Developer and internal departments such as Marketing, Operations and the People team
  • Reconciliation and investigation of variances between Tableau and source systems
  • Monthly site P&Ls and management accounts :
  • Identifying improvement opportunities in the monthly P&L production process and drive change
  • Liaising with Operations and General Managers to discuss P&L queries and understand key drivers of performance

    Part qualified accountant (study support available)
  • Excellent academic record, at a minimum :
  • 300 UCAS Tariff points or equivalent (
  • 120 UCAS points for those who passed exams from 2017 onwards)
  • 2 : 1 degree (numerate subject preferred; STEM or Business / Accounting)
  • Previous experience in financial analysis is preferred
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships across functions
  • Experience of managing multiple priorities and delivering to a deadline
  • Previous experience with Tableau or a similar data visualisation tool would be advantageous
  • Previous multi-site business experience is not essential
  • Personable and friendly character who will be a team player
  • Highly motivated with ability to work both independently and in a team to achieve results
  • Commercially minded with an ability to look at the bigger picture
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, quantitative and investigative skills
  • The ability to work accurately is essential in the role
  • Ability to work with changing priorities and time pressures
  • A self-starter who takes a proactive approach
  • Ability to present complex data in a simplified and meaningful way
  • Ability to apply knowledge and creativity to resolve complex issues
