Full Job Description

The post holder will be a member of a small team and will be required to work closely with finance and operational colleagues, project groups and other partner organisations, including ICB's, local Authorities, other NHS organisations and stakeholders to support the provision of efficient and effective financial management including those provided.
The post holder will be part of a team rotating across financial management, financial services, and costing & reporting, providing a comprehensive and professional financial support to a range of budget holders.
To support the various finance teams. This includes the productions of accurate information to enable the Trust to meet its financial duties, Provide support and assistance for the directorate finance team in the production of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis, reports and reconciliations, which will ensure that the financial information used within the directorate is accurate.
Assist in the production of monthly budget statements and monthly finance reports using the computerised financial systems, Excel and Word.
Provision of financial advice and information to budget holders and key stakeholders groups across the Directorates.
Assist in reconciliation of control/bank accounts, supplier statements and general office administration duties.
Understand & assist in the maintenance of the fixed asset register and link to the general ledger.
Support in the monthly internal and external reporting schedule.
Understand National Cost Collection and how costings are generated within the trust.
The post holder would be required to work within the finance protocols and with guidance from other members of the finance team.
Manage agreed workload to ensure monthly/weekly timescales are met.
Keep up to date with their apprenticeship training schedule and all relating activities.
Support all functions of finance when needed.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.,

  • Obtaining funding for an apprenticeship through another training provider (i.e. undertaking an apprenticeship elsewhere at the same time)

    This post provides an opportunity to gain the skills required to continue in the role post apprenticeship subject to meeting certain criteria.
    Advanced entry requirements
  • NVQ level 2 (GCSE grade 5-9) or A Level or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy

  • Working towards or completed AAT level 2
