Why Join KPMG as a Finance Associate The position sits within the central finance team that oversees central costs (core/head office), offshoring finances, as well as elements of non-standard staff costs. It reports into the responsible Finance Manager. The role spans across all business areas that fall within the team's responsibility and is mainly tasked with supporting the finance manager in maintaining accurate accounting records and controlling spend. The position is best suited for an enthusiastic and pro-active team player, who enjoys a strong level of finance technical knowledge and analytical skills, that have been applied in relevant past experience. What will you be doing?

  • Analyse costs and prepare reports to support decision-making. Work closely with the responsible parties to ensure budget adherence, understand deviations, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets as well as periodical re-forecasting.
  • Prepare and record journal entries for various items across the areas of responsibility. Ensure accuracy, completeness and proper classification of journal entries, and maintain backup as needed.
  • Prepare reconciliations, identifying and resolving any errors or inconsistencies.
  • Be the business' finance point of contact for expenses/invoice, investigating and escalating as required.
  • Ensure finance processes and policies are adhered to. Challenge deviation and always be forward thinking about improvements.
  • Stay informed of relevant accounting standards and regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows and reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure compliance with financial standards and internal policies. Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and evidence as required.
  • Undertake special projects and assignments as required, contributing to the overall success of the finance department and the organization.
  • Be an advocate for change programmes delivered by Finance / KBS, including automation tools, self-service, standardisation and any other changes in ways of working, With 20 sites across the UK, we can potentially facilitate office work, working from home, flexible hours, and part-time options.     Qualified/part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA or similar) or Accounting/Finance related degree.
  • Demonstrable relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and experience with financial accounting and reporting tools (e.g. SAP).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
