Full Job Description

The Finance Business Partner will work closely with a particular area in the business, creating a real and active partnership with both operations and management. Your role will be to provide 'real time' support and analysis, to be a trusted adviser and to add value that will assist in decision making. A key skill is an ability to communicate your message, to understand your audience and deliver the information in a clear and user-friendly manner., 1. Financial Reporting
a. Be responsible for accurate financial information, this includes management accounts, budgets, forecasts, balance sheet reconciliations, and other key financial analysis and reports. All information must be produced in accordance with the relevant accounting standards or Yusen policy, procedures and deadlines.
b. To produce any required information or business reporting as required by senior finance staff, e.g. for the audits or once off analysis

2. Business Support
a. To provide insightful explanations and commentaries on all areas of Financial Information and drive actions for improvement.
b. Budget and Forecast preparation for the area of their responsibilities in conjunction with local management.
c. To assist the cash cycle for their area of the business including timely, accurate invoicing and collection of debts.
d. To assist Business Development with RFI/tenders from inception to implementation.

3. Quality and Standards
a. To prepare capital or revenue investment applications promptly, in line with company policy and procedure, detailing all relevant and pertinent information is included to assist decision making.
b. To ensure site administration and operational management understand company policy and procedures, identifying any areas of concern or training needs to management.

4. Team Leadership
a. Manage and monitor levels of performance through the annual PDR process, objective setting, and any other mechanisms as appropriate, providing appropriate levels of mentoring and support.
b. Ensure that departmental organisation charts and job descriptions are maintained and accurate.
c. Ensure all team members are aware of key business outcomes, processes, and expectations, delivering all company communications in a consistent and timely manner, providing feedback as appropriate.
d. Supporting with business investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes across the organisation, as necessary.
e. Ensuring due attention is provided to employee welfare, identifying and signposting areas of support where necessary, ensuring functional arrangements are in place to protect the wellbeing of all employees.

We are looking for a part qualified/qualified or qualified by experience accountant, with strong business partnering, experience in financial reporting and ideally systems/system implementation experience - logistics background would be a bonus!,

  • Qualified, or qualified by experience Accountant (ACA, CIMA or ACCA)

  • Financial experience of working within a logistics background is beneficial

  • Knowledge and experience of Financial systems/implementation of financial systems

  • Knowledge of financial reporting systems

  • Actively influence day to day operations by adding value to the decision-making process and the direction of the business

  • Ability to challenge procedures and processes to drive improvement and efficiency

  • Comprehensive understanding of how the current and potential customer base supports the business strategy

  • Flexible and open attitude within a changing business environment

  • Able to remain focused and calm during periods of high workloads and short deadlines

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations

  • We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to be based at our site in Northampton (NN4 5FB). We are offering a salary range of £50,000 - £60,000 (DOE) with additional £6000 per annum car allowance. The role will involve travel across Yusen UK sites and EU travel (at least once a year).
