Full Job Description

Shropshire Council are looking for a suitably qualified, experienced and talentedfinance professional to be a Finance Business Partner and join our effective FinanceBusiness Partnering team who provide a strategic and value-added service to theCouncil., Through appropriate support and challenge you will provide senior managers, budgetholders and directors with expert business-related advice on financial management,accounting issues and value for money. You will take an active role in the ongoingmanagement and implementation of high value and complex programmes andcontracts, delivering excellence in reporting, analysis, financial control and decisionmaking.You will provide effective short, medium and longer term planning,analytically reviewing financial performance and identifying underlying cost drivers.You will ensure that financial best practice is applied across the client directorates.Key to the role is the need to maintain and develop effective working relationships inorder to influence and challenge senior management; providing a liaison between theFinance team and the teams within the business.

To succeed in this role you will be CCAB qualified or part-qualified, with experience ofproviding financial advice and support to senior management within a large andcomplex organisation. You will have knowledge and understanding of localgovernment finance as well as demonstrable experience of budgetary control,financial management and financial planning. You will inspire confidence, beconfident in engaging with colleagues across the organisation and within our partnerorganisations, and have excellent communication and influencing skills. You will beproactive in identifying trends, opportunities for change and solutions to budgetproblems and you will be an advocate for improvements in financial management.
