Thank you for your interest in this exciting opportunity at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council which will play a major role in making the best use of our considerable assets to build an even brighter future for our residents and businesses.

Having invested well over the long-term, we are one of the most financially resilient councils in the country. The council has set a two-year balanced budget for 2024/25 and 2025/26 that includes significant investment in our front-line services and an ongoing large capital programme.

This means that we have the resources to make things happen and to drive an extensive development programme whose yields will underpin the economy and fund public services.

Initiatives such as the development of a new garden community at Manydown and the town centre business park regeneration at Basing View - both leveraging the council's own extensive landholdings - demonstrate that we operate on a different scale to many, and this comes with high expectations.

Like every local authority in the country, we have a vital and fundamental role to play in delivering for our communities. While we are in an excellent position to do so - having built financial capacity and resilience into our long-term planning for decades - we are in no way complacent about the challenges that lie ahead.

One of the most important figures for us is our extremely high 95% resident satisfaction rate with the borough as a place to live. To achieve this, we focus on addressing the things that matter most to our residents.

We have high performing services and lots of opportunities and assets that we could mobilise to bring returns to support our services and ambitious plans without adding to the burden for our council taxpayers.

It's a complex and often challenging place, but incredibly professionally rewarding.

We are looking for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our team, you will be helping us to achieve our ambitions by providing high quality finance and decision-making support to our services.

Being a key member of the Accountancy Team, you will have a role in the continuous development and improvement of Financial Services, bringing your knowledge and experience to support the development of the service.
