Full Job Description

Providing first class Finance Business Partnering support to the General Merchanting organisation. Working closely with the Senior Leadership team of the relevant business line to drive business performance and maximise achievement against the annual operating plan.

You will support, challenge and be an important part of the Senior Leadership team through provision of business insight and KPI analysis to allow the Business Line to maximise opportunities and mitigate risk.

Contributing to the wider TP finance function to provide high quality commercial and financial support to allow for improved decision making, understanding of performance drivers and actionable business intelligence.

This role is Hybrid working, so travel to our Travis Perkins head office based in Northampton is usually required once or twice a week!

Principal Accountabilities

  • A key part of the Senior Leadership Team, representing Finance in partnership with the relevant Directors and their direct reports

  • Daily, Weekly and Monthly BAU reporting of performance to allow the Senior Leadership Team to understand and manage their progress against targets

  • Ad-hoc reporting as and when required, either by the Leadership Team or through identification of risk / opportunities to flag to the business.

  • Working with Finance and the Leadership team to build budgets and 3 year plans. Understand, challenge and influence the Business Line strategy through review and analysis, and use business knowledge combined with Finance ability to support the build of both short term and long term strategies / budgets

  • Maintain an up-to-date forecast of the expected monthly performance to provide early notification of significant variances to budget.

  • Contribute to relevant business line, Finance or Group projects as required

  • Evaluate Business Line capital spend through analysis against KPIs, strategy, and investment hurdles to support strong investment business cases.

  • Contribute to post investment reviews of prior year capital spend to support lessons learned

  • Work with the Business Line pricing and commercial teams to help understand the impact of commercial and pricing decisions.

  • Develop capability in data studio, Looker and any other reporting or data manipulation tools as required (including excel). Utilise support from the team’s subject matter experts to seek help and develop own reports.

  • Ensure Accurate numbers through month end, raising significant variances through the process with the relevant TP or group contact to ensure transparency of numbers when they are reported

  • Identify opportunities to maximise performance through increased revenue and margin, reduced cost, or more optimum use of capital assets., We are currently looking for an Apprentice Credit Controller to join our Credit Services team, this is a hybrid role where you will work from home and also in our Head office in Northampton.     Qualified accountant

  • Minimum of 2 years in an analytical role

  • Working in a fast paced environment

  • Experience of working across multiple functions

  • Excellent communication record

  • Proven track record of being able to communicate with finance and non-finance people

  • Advanced excel / Google sheet skills

  • Ability to interpret data into action orientated insight

  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities

  • Strong commercial thought process
