Full Job Description

Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd is one of the UK's most effective product design and development consultancies. We are looking for a Finance/General Manager to manage the day to day financial and operational aspects of the business and support the Managing Director and Board in setting and implementing financial and business direction. Based in our studios in Datchet, this is an exciting opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the management of an exciting, friendly and innovative business. We are open to a full or part time (3+days) appointment subject to finding the right candidate. Activities/Responibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts for parent and subsidiary companies
  • Manage and support the Financial Controller in the running of the purchase and sales ledger, payroll, credit control, bank etc.
  • Work with external accountants to prepare annual statutory accounts
  • Ensure staff and project managers maintain accurate information in our practice management software
  • Monitor efficiency, utilisation and profitability of projects
  • Set the annual budget and oversee management of budgets with budget holders
  • Working with the Managing Director and the Board to set strategic objectives and priorities for the company's operational delivery as part of business planning
  • Ensure the smooth running and development of the company infrastructure (people, systems, processes, building and facilities)
  • Manage the company insurance policies and ensure the legal compliance of the business
  • Developing and maintaining plans to ensure business continuity in the event of unexpected disruptions
  • Work with the Directors and staff and to ensure that the company maintains its external accreditations (including ISO9001 and ISO13485) through our Quality Management System (QMS). Appropriate training will be provided.

    At least 5 years accounting experience; qualified by relevant professional body or qualified by experience.
  • Management and leadership skills and experience.
  • Excellent business knowledge and acumen ideally with experience in the professional service sector.
  • Able to generate new ideas, with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organised with great attention to detail.
  • Able to translate strategic thinking into effective delivery
  • Experience of making complex decisions often involving unique problems and requiring innovative solutions.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and explain finance to non-financial teams.
