Full Job Description

McQueens Flowers is seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations for both its UK and US businesses. The role will be responsible for managing the financial health of the company, providing financial reports and guidance, and ensuring compliance with local regulations in both countries. You will work closely with the CEO, senior management, and various stakeholders to help drive business strategy and profitability., Financial Management

  • Oversee financial operations for both the UK and US businesses, ensuring alignment with the company's financial strategy and goals. (Note that the US is a small operation)
  • Prepare and present financial reports (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow statements) on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market trends.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and manage company costs, identifying areas for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
  • Financial Strategy: Collaborate with senior management and the CEO to provide financial insights and strategic advice for business growth.
  • Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity, managing working capital, and minimizing financial risk.
  • Revenue Analysis: Analyse sales data and pricing strategies across the UK and US markets to optimize revenue generation and profitability.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Management
  • Ensure compliance with all local tax and financial regulations in both the UK and US.
  • Audit Management: Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and ensuring accurate, timely completion of annual audits.
  • Tax Filing: Oversee tax filings and ensure timely payments of corporate taxes, VAT (UK), and sales tax (US).
  • Legal Compliance: Work with legal advisors to ensure compliance with financial regulations, contractual obligations, and company policies.
  • Financial Reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and analyses for senior management and the board of directors, covering the performance of both UK and US operations.
  • Variance Analysis: Provide detailed analysis of financial performance against budget, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • KPI Monitoring: Develop and track financial key performance indicators (KPIs) for both UK departments.
  • Team Leadership
  • Manage and mentor a small team of one, providing training, support, and development opportunities.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Master's degree or ACCA/CIMA/CPA qualification is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance manager or similar role, with exposure to both UK and US financial environments.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of UK and US accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
  • Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks and Xero, advanced Excel skills are essential.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop a team, as well as work collaboratively with senior management.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex financial information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Problem Solving: Excellent analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail and ability to identify areas for improvement.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
