Full time, all year round, permanent contract, commencing as soon as possible Salary - United Learning Support Staff Pay Scale (Band 4 - £36,550 - £49,547) William Hulme's Grammar School (WHGS) is an all-through school and one of the most over-subscribed schools in Manchester. We have an excellent reputation and high aspirations for all our students, who enjoy an academic and creatively rich curriculum and are equipped with the skills that will help them to become responsible members of the local and global community. A vacancy has arisen for a Finance Manager to work full-time within the school finance team. The role is for 37.5 hrs per week all year round. Reporting to the Principal and Executive Business Manager as part of the Finance Department, initial responsibilities will include:-

  • Finance:
  • Manage the day-to-day processing of the schools finances including income, funding, expenditure, cash management and expenses.
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet and other finance related reconciliations.
  • Monthly management accounts preparation
  • Management of the school hirings and identifying other income generation avenues.
  • Management of internal and external audits.
  • Management of the 16-19 bursary application process
  • Adhoc project work and review and implementation of new systems when required
  • Payroll:
  • Oversight of the preparation of monthly payroll input.
  • Monthly payroll reconciliation.
  • Handling of any payroll queries.
  • Budget & Forecasting:
  • Preparation of the annual budget submission and 5-year plans.
  • Preparation of the Curriculum Modeller.
  • Monthly budget monitoring and forecasting.
  • Leadership & Management:
  • Line management of finance, reception and reprographics team.
  • Attending/deputising for the Executive Business Manager at various meetings as and when required.
  • There is the opportunity for the right person to grow and develop in the role with the possibility of help with further study in areas such as accountancy and / or leadership and management. We are looking for someone wishing to progress a career in finance alongside school business management who is willing to commit to studying and grow the role to match their study progress. They should have the ability to work under their own initiative, prioritise their workload, and multi-task. Confidentiality and good customer service are also essential. The person should be comfortable with learning and using a variety of software packages, have finance experience and be able to follow established systems and processes.
