Full Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Manager to oversee daily financial operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong organisational and analytical skills, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial oversight and insights.,
- Managing the day-to-day activities of the Finance Team
- Embed efficient processes and procedures ensuring a high level of accuracy which will meet future business needs
- Complete monthly processing in line with the agreed timetable to enable timely and accurate management reporting
- Line management of the core services Finance Assistants and the Grant reconciliation Team to support them in their roles and development the Team as needed.
- Set objectives and development targets for all staff within your team and hold regular 1-2-1s
- Manage the year-end external audit including supplying information requested and co-ordinating responses to any queries from the auditors.
- Management of all bank accounts including maintaining and updating mandates and on-line access. Ensuring that authorisation of all bank payments is in accordance with delegated authorities and mandates.
- Cash flow monitoring and forecasting
- Ensure all statutory accounting and tax records are completed.
- Assist with development and review of financial policies
- Provide financial training for other Departments as required.
- Undertake training as appropriate to the role and appropriate CPD
- Undertake any other appropriate duties as determined by the Executive, Hours: Minimum 2 days per month. Attending 5 Board meetings in person in Birmingham per year plus potential committee meetings
Qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) Accountant or qualified by experience (Essential) - A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a finance department (Essential)
- Excellent IT skills with the ability to navigate and use MS Excel, e.g. V lookups & pivot tables (Essential)
- A good working knowledge of Finance systems including sage 50 (Desirable)
- System implementation experience (Desirable)
- A good understanding of financial controls (Essential)
- Strong attention to detail (Essential)
- Experience of working in a regulated or not for profit organisation (Desirable)
- Experience of managing a small team (Essential)
- Continual improvement mindset (Essential)

Job Salary: £45,000-£50,000 DOE - Team: Finance
- Contract Term: Permanent
- Location: Hybrid with attendance required in our office in Birmingham city centre (1 day per week)
- Hours: 37.5 hours Benefits: 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing with service up to 33 days after 5 years' service (3 days to be used between Christmas and New Year).
