We're recruiting for a Finance Manager - Accountant to join our Group Reporting function. The team is responsible for end to end Financial Reporting activity including; general ledger fulfilment and control, quarterly participation in the Group consolidation, supplementary disclosure and SII QRT process and annual production of entity Reports and Accounts.

The purpose of this role is to concentrate on post-ledger fulfillment activities, specifically the management, production, and review of Financial Reporting for the Legal & General Reinsurance entities (L&G Re, L&G Re2).

The primary deliverables include managing and completing quarterly Group supplementary disclosures and annual statutory reporting requirements, with a particular emphasis on investment reporting and the factors influencing the IFRS17 Insurance figures.

The role holder will act as a consultant on Investments for the BAU team and will have a continuous responsibility to ensure the consistency of Investment reporting in the ledger.

What you'll be doing:

  • Oversee and facilitate the delivery of Financial Reporting for L&G Re and L&G Re2, focusing on Investments reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Responsibilities include coordinating and executing Group disclosures via the OneStream consolidation tool, providing continuous support to the BAU team regarding investments, preparing for the annual accounts production, and overseeing the distribution of the annual Reports and Accounts

  • IFRS17 has introduced significant and complex new processes and principles into the reporting routine; a key responsibility of the role holder will be to understand the IFRS17 Insurance reporting landscape to ensure the accuracy of reporting disclosures

  • Identify, manage, and monitor the resolution of issues during report production, while ensuring communication with key stakeholders is maintained

  • Develop system reporting expertise (GFAS, OneStream, CDM, IFRS17 systems, Clearwater etc)

  • Work collaboratively with the GL/SII Manager to coordinate resource effectively to deliver on team goals

  • Collaborate with the Financial Reporting L&G Re team, Group External Reporting, Investment Management, the broader Group Finance team, and external auditors to ensure that requirements are comprehended, scheduled, and executed

  • Collaborate with less experienced team members to enhance their technical and procedural knowledge, serving as a coach or mentor when suitable, and setting a positive example through action

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Bermuda stakeholders and external auditors

  • Assist in integrating new Financial Reporting tools into Business As Usual (BAU), specifically Clearwater and the replacement tool for annual Reports & Accounts disclosure management

    Qualified accountant from a recognised accountancy body with an understanding of the concepts of IFRS17 Insurance Contracts and IFRS9 Financial Instruments

  • Previous knowledge and experience of participation in Group Financial Reporting processes an essential

  • Previous knowledge and experience of annual Reports & Accounts production under IFRS an essential

  • Previous knowledge of internal control procedures to ensure compliance an essential Previous knowledge of insurance and investment disclosure reporting experience an advantage

  • Previous life and / or general insurance reporting experience an advantage.

  • Experience in proactively managing own workload and coordinating the activity of others to deliver complex processes to tight deadlines

  • Experience of working with others to find pragmatic solutions to process, reconciliation and accounting issues

  • Experience in negotiating complex internal processes, systems architecture and an ability to link interdependencies

  • Experience of complex reconciliation processes
