Full Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us as our Finance Manager to lead and manage our Financial Services function promoting efficiency, high performance, probity, and excellent value for money services. In this role you will act as the Deputy Section 151 Officer, be the technical lead and support the delivery of our Transformation Agenda. You'll assist and report to the Chief Officer Finance & Performance in the operation and development of all financial activities of the Council, playing a crucial role in the delivery of service transformation, driving efficiency and productivity improvements and also the optimisation of income opportunities, to contribute towards the achievement of financial self-sufficiency.

You could be an aspiring leader, who is looking to gain experience as a Deputy Section 151 or an experienced leader who is looking to lead and inspire a new team.

  • Fully qualified member of one the five accountancy institutes in CCAB or CIMA
  • Demonstrable experience in a strategic finance role in the Public Sector, preferably Local Government
  • Understands the political structure and environment within Local Government
  • Competent in the use of a financial management systems to produce budget reporting, annual accounts and financial statements in accordance with the CIPFA Accounting Code of Practice.
  • Has sound knowledge and experience of local government accounting relating to relevant Accounting Codes of Practice, Statutory requirements and to grant regimes
  • Is aware of current legislation including that relating to Housing Revenue Account, Capital Accounting and Treasury Management.
  • An ability to innovate and lead in the transformation of service delivery. To include project management of cross-team initiatives.
