Full Job Description

We are currently seeking a Part-time Finance Officer to support the director of Finance and Operations. You will work closely with your team and department heads to provide effective and efficient management of College finances.

The post would be suitable for someone with experience working within a finance team and have an understanding of a College environment, who is able to deal with staff and suppliers in a professional, calm and helpful manner, and to work independently.

The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent numeracy and IT skills, be self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and to work flexibly and on their own initiative whilst demonstrating high levels of accuracy and attention to detail. They will have strong written and communication skills and an ability to deal promptly and efficiently with queries.,

  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent or Grade C or above including English Language and Maths

  • Level 3 or higher qualification in accounting

  • 2-3 years in a finance department

  • Experienced user of Office packages

  • Experience of administrative duties

  • Working knowledge of office procedures

  • An understanding of nominal, sales and purchase ledgers

  • Use of SAGE 50 accounting software

  • Working knowledge of accounting databases

  • Understanding of Equality and Diversity

  • To be able to use financial Software

  • Good IT skills, in particular Word, Outlook and Excel

  • Sound interpersonal & communications skills

  • Pro-active approach to problem solving

  • Attention to detail and solution focussed


  • Experience working in not-for-profit or further education with young adults with learning and/or physical disabilities is desirable.

    Salary: £23,339.80 per annum (FTE £29,174.75)
