Full Job Description
Slimbridge Primary School have an exciting opportunity for an individual who has a strong background in finance, who will oversee financial arrangements and control and will assist the Headteacher in budget reviews and projections, as well as running the overall financial systems such as payroll and invoicing. We are looking to recruit a kind, friendly, hardworking finance officer who would like to work flexible, part-time hours. Ideally you will have experience of school systems (FMS and SIMS) and be familiar with the processes involved in financial accounting. Additional training will be provided for the right candidate. Ideally, this position is for 15 hours per week working Monday to Wednesday, between the hours of 8am to 4.00pm daily, time term only plus inset days (39 weeks) and one extra work of week in school holidays to be arranged. However, for the right candidate, we would be willing to consider flexibility with these hours or explore job share options.,
- Can undertake monthly reconciliation of the school's financial systems and all school accounts
- Can take responsibility for the accurate completion and validity of payroll returns for the payment of all salaries and wages and can answer staff pay queries and advise on pay and contract related matters
- To ensure all staff are paid correctly and in accordance with the most up to date pay scales
- Can prepare and download reports to Gloucestershire County Council for authorisation, ensuring suppliers are paid promptly
- Can manage, maintain and oversee our School Fund on a day-to-day basis and prepare annual accounts
- Can work with external financial auditors and keep astute financial accounts
- Is computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft packages (systems such as SIMS/FMS/Parentpay would be an advantage)
- Has good organisational skills
- Orders stock when necessary
- Maintains and updates the asset register
- Observes the Financial Regulations
- Downloads, monitors and reconciles using FMS monthly reports
- Able to oversee orders and deliveries
- Keeps analysis of costs and other statistical records
- Prepares long-term assessments of the school's fundraising and income generation
- Is able to source and write grant applications
- Can keep all school accounts and prepares income and expenditure reports in accordance with financial regulations
- Prepares financial accounts for submission to the Governing Board
- Will scrutinize statements and authorise invoices for payment in accordance with school policy
- Will report to the finance and premises Governor Committee on the school's financial position and stability with regard to the chart of accounts and budget plan

- Is self-motivated, As part of our due diligence within safer recruitment in schools, we will be carrying out online searches to help identify any incidents or issues which may need to be explored at interview. These searches will include, but will not be limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google. Any anomalies in either your application form or as a result of your online search will be addressed by the school either prior to your interview or during the interview. Appointments to the school are made with reference to the latest safeguarding guidance and Keeping Children Safe in Education and will involve additional safeguarding checks including DBS checks and references. Furthermore, the school may conduct online searches of publicly available information as part of due diligence with shortlisted applicants.
