Full Job Description

We are recruiting for a Financial Accounting Manager to join the team, based in Birmingham! You will be responsible for the management of the Asset Accounting Team. This role takes a lead in the delivery of the statutory financial statements and the annual audit process in consultation with the Department for Transport and National Audit Office. You will be responsible for delivering robust asset valuations, developing and maintaining appropriate financial accounting policies and ensuring that systems are fit for purpose. What you'll be leading on.

  • Take a lead on the production of both our statutory financial accounts and the Dartford & Thurrock River crossing financial statements.
  • Deliver the quinquennial review of the Strategic Road Network ensuring the valuation and underpinning methodologies are complaint with accounting standards.
  • Manage the relationship with our external auditors during the interim and final audits.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate financial accounting policies and ensure compliance.
  • Support business partners and other finance teams as an accounting subject matter expert.
  • Manage and motivate a team of talented individuals by deploying their knowledge, skills, and experience appropriately to achieve the team objectives., Our directorate is responsible for managing the company's £4 billion a year finances, overall governance, assurance and risk management, managing the company's large and dispersed estate, processing damages claims and the operation of the Dart Charge facility.     Fully qualified accountant with a relevant up-to-date membership of a recognised professional body such as ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA or CIPFA.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and FreM.
  • Substantial experience in financial accounting roles, including consolidation functions, in a large organisation.
  • In depth knowledge of standard accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of government financial reporting requirements.
