Full Job Description

The Trust seeks to appoint a new Financial Controller, on a full time, permanent, hybrid basis all year round to support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of Trust and school management accounts, forecasts, budgets and other financial analysis as required to support the strategic development of schools and the Trust and to lead and manage the Finance Shared Service Team. The post-holder will be expected to ensure the provision of the financial reporting to enable the Trust to achieve its aims and objectives through the efficient management of its financial resources. Promoting best practice and ensuring compliance in line with the Trust's policies. You must support the Catholic values and ethos of the Trust and its Schools. The Bishop's growth plan means you will need to be flexible and proactive in the context of changing organisational needs, strategic priorities and expansion, which could result in managing an increased team over
time.

Key Objectives:

  • The Financial Controller will support the CFO whilst being responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of Trust and school management accounts, forecasts, reports, budgets and other financial analysis as required to support the strategic development of schools and the Trust.

  • The post-holder will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the Trust's Finance Shared Service Team.

  • The post-holder will provide sound financial advice by utilising tools including Integrated Curriculum Financial Planning (ICFP) metrics, benchmarking and data analysis to all academies to facilitate informed decision-making and to ensure robust financial management Trust-wide.

  • In addition, the post-holder will be responsible for ensuring there is a strong system of internal controls and that all financial processes and procedures are carried out effectively and in accordance with the applicable accounting standards and regulations.
