Full Job Description
The role will be based in London and have primary focus on coverage of financial institution relationships for the UK. The role will report primarily into the Global Financial Institutions team in South Africa and will have local reporting in the UK. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and build deep relevance with key institutional relationships for IBP. This role will predominantly focus on banks but will also include requirements to engage non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) and intermediaries as relevant (referred to in that respect collectively as "institutions" in this Role Description). The role emphasises client relationship management across all products and services, ensuring a holistic and consolidated view of all interactions and points of relevance between Investec and these institutions. The role requires a strong level of financial acumen, understanding of the banking landscape and dynamics. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to take on and build a role as part of a globally minded function, managing and activating opportunity with our key institutional relationships to further the organisations strategic objectives.,
- Client relationship management: Continue to develop and deepen existing relationships and broaden touchpoints with a view to ensuring Investec has access to opportunity and support from our institutional client base. Actively manage these relationships and facilitate access to these relationships for both senior and relevant Investec stakeholders - engagement to include all products & services
- Strategic Development Understand the strategic objectives of the Group and ensure that we are accessing our institutional relationships in a way which can support those objectives across products, ideas and market opportunities
- Maintain a holistic viewpoint: Ensure a holistic and consolidated view of all interactions and points of relevance between Investec and Institutions. Understand clearly where we receive and deliver value into the relationships with our institutional client base both in UK and globally.
- Facilitate accessibility to relationships: Touch point for the executive leadership group and client groups to understand and access any of our institutional relationships
- Support Global FI Coverage Strategy: Reporting into the Global Head of FI Coverage ensure that we co-ordinate our activities and relationships with institutions in a way which best serves both IBP and the broader Group objectives
- Co-Ordination responsibilities - Support & facilitate peer-to-peer strategic meetings by creating relevant information and briefing packs. Remain on top of key market developments including regulatory evolution pertinent to Investec and relay market sentiment and views through the organisation
- Contingency Funding - manage & execute IBP syndicated and bilateral bank loan funding arrangements maintaining geographic diverse lender base. Additionally work alongside other funding teams in the organisation to ensure that the bank develops and maintains increased diversity of options to fund itself with our institutional relationships
- Administrative, Credit & KYC support - support, manage & facilitate client management processes to ensure institutional clients remain compliant with internal policy requirements.
- Institutional Client Mapping - Develop & maintain client engagement MI across Investec product groups
Strong experience and ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of the full breadth of banking dynamics relevant to Investec in our connection to the FI market - Comprehensive knowledge of all parts of Investec's product offering (assets, liabilities and trading product)
- Ability to articulate the organisational strategic objectives and develop engagement with our institutional relationships to further those objectives
- Ability to connect with credibility within the UK and European banking and financial institution community, with strong external marketing and presentation skills.
- Highly numerate with a proven ability to deliver high quality work to meet role and business targets.
- Proven ability to familiarise with financial concepts and be able to understand the application to situations of relevance for Investec - equally the ability to discount low relevance
- A self starting attitude and highly collaborative working style - ability to cope with multiple stakeholders and a cross jurisdictional reporting structure requiring high trust and co-operation
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to articulate both verbally and in writing/presentation form
