Full Job Description

This is an exciting opening to work in our Global Financial Reporting team, which is responsible for delivering quarterly consolidated results and bi-annual consolidated financial statements for a FTSE 100 hospitality company with a presence in over 100 countries. You will have responsibility for the financial reporting of Americas based subsidiaries and branches. The successful candidate will need to have a good working knowledge of IFRS as applied in a global organisation. Adherence to reporting deadlines is essential as is the ability to produce value-added commentaries and supporting documents for senior executives as required. The role will include financial reporting of Americas based subsidiaries and the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements under US GAAP. Your day to day

  • Preparation of quarterly and year end reporting information (using Oracle FCC) under IFRS for submission to the Group consolidation team in accordance with agreed deadlines, including the provision of value-added commentaries and supporting schedules as required.
  • Review and understand monthly trial balances extracted from PeopleSoft through enquiry and challenge of unusual and unexpected items.
  • Preparation of annual and quarterly consolidated financial statements under US GAAP of relevant subsidiary companies, including liaison with the Group tax department, Group treasury and Company Secretariat.
  • Preparation and filing of US government statistical returns as required.
  • Maintain a detailed and up to date knowledge of all matters related to IFRS and other relevant regulatory accounting requirements.
  • Ensure that relevant Sarbanes-Oxley processes and controls are adhered to.
  • To establish good working relationships with the external auditors and thereby help to facilitate a smooth audit process.
  • Respond to information requests from the Group Tax department, both in the US and UK.
  • Review current working practices with the aim of undertaking process improvements/automations to streamline reporting.
  • Help to ensure financial systems are developed and maintained to meet legal entity and Group reporting requirements.
  • Assist Group financial reporting team with quarterly analytical review or valuation work.
  • Preparation of notes to the annual financial statements under IFRS, including liaison with the Group tax department, Group treasury and Company Secretariat as appropriate.
  • Facilitate the external audit of the Group reporting submissions and US consolidated financial statements. Prepare or review work-papers for internal / external auditors.
  • To carry out investigations and such other duties as may be required including ad hoc project work.

    Whilst we love experience, mindset is of equal importance. We're looking for someone who is committed with a natural ability to operate effectively in a fast moving, global environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with one of the BIG Four accounting firms.
  • 2+ years financial reporting experience in a complex organization using Oracle or equivalent consolidation system (FCCS, HFM, SAP etc) and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting under IFRS.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
  • Advocate of strong internal control environment.
  • Qualifications
  • ACA or equivalent accounting qualification essential.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.
