Full Job Description

We are seeking someone with good knowledge of Financial Safeguarding Investigations and strong communication skills to join Client Services as a Financial Safeguarding Officer.

The Financial Safeguarding Officer investigates and collates information of abuse of persons with care and support needs finances. The information is gained to support Norfolk County Councils responsibilities under S44 The Care Act 2014 (Safeguarding) and is shared both internal with Social Services and also relevant external agencies.

This role is varied and interesting and involves the following key activities:

  • Collating financial information held by Norfolk County Council where concerns of possible financial abuse have been raised by either Financial Services or Social Services.

  • Making both in-person and remote contact and enquiries with persons who are managing the person with care and support needs finances.

  • Visiting persons with care and support needs to investigate and inform them of financial concerns and assess their mental capacity under the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

  • Prepare reports of the enquiries completed to share both to internal and external.

  • To provide expert advice and support to Social Care staff in relation to their Financial Safeguarding enquiries.

  • Deliver training on financial abuse both internally and externally., You will receive training and support to carry out this role, but to be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate

    Knowledge of financial Safeguarding investigations.

  • Strong communication skills, both in in-person and remote situations with great customer service skills to a diverse range of people.

  • Strong organisation skills, ability to prioritise, and work on your own initiative, including the ability to make decisions and problem solve. Experience of delivering training and of giving clear constructive advice to both professionals and customers.
