Full Job Description

Situated in North Worcestershire, Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council share services. The Councils are committed to being a customer driven organisation, with our customers at the heart of everything we do; focused on improving delivery services that make a difference to the community that we serve.

Redditch Borough Council and Bromsgrove District Council are looking to fill one post in their busy shared service Financial Support Team

The role is to provide support and advice, and identify opportunities, to help customers improve their financial independence. This is currently undertaken over the telephone although there maybe a future requirement to deliver this support face to face.

The post will also include some low level processing of Housing Benefits, Council Tax Support, and Essential Living Fund Support claims

Key Requirements

  • To provide accurate and appropriate advice and support to customers in response to their queries.

  • To ensure the provision of excellent customer care throughout the service.

  • To ensure the correct information is gathered, and entered onto relevant systems, to assess claims and requests for support in accordance with policies and guidance.

  • To ensure that take up of benefit and other support is encouraged.

  • To support the strategic purpose to help customers become financially independent by understanding and assess customer needs.

  • To help customers to access the support they need to meet their needs.

    If you have experience in a proactive Benefits environment, you are customer focused with good communication and telephone manner. Experience of using a variety of ICT systems, a willingness to develop new and innovative working practices and a good general educational background which includes a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade A-C or equivalent including English and Mathematics; you may be the person for this role.
