Full Job Description

We are seeking a Financial and Systems Accountant to play a central role in providing management accounting information and analysis to senior leadership and budget holders at the School, its Board and the Social Sciences Division. Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the CFO and the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, you will lead a talented team of two staff members, oversee financial accounting processes, and be responsible for the timely production of both management and statutory accounts for the School and its trading subsidiary, OSBS Ltd. Your work will be critical in ensuring the smooth and accurate consolidation of financial results and leading key projects such as the migration of OSBS onto the University's Oracle Financials system. Key responsibilities

  • Oversee month-end accounting processes, delivering management and statutory accounts.
  • Lead the consolidation of the School's and subsidiary's financial results and support the migration of OSBS Ltd. to Oracle Financials.
  • Provide audit support during interim and year-end audits, addressing queries and delivering evidence as required.
  • Manage and analyse payroll costs, providing insights to support strategic planning.
  • Implement a financial data warehouse using BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau, standardising financial reporting across the School.

    You will hold a recognised accounting qualification from a chartered professional body and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality financial information to staff at all levels. You should be able to produce detailed and accurate data while maintaining a broad perspective and build strong working relationships across various departments. Previous line management or project leadership experience is essential, along with advanced IT skills, including proficiency with accounting systems and Excel.
